It's looking very bleak at Portman Road right now.

Their summer transfer business turned out to be weak and they've been cut adrift at the bottom of the table.

Few teams make up an eight point gap from the beginning of February and with just three wins all season they're seemingly on a collision course with League One football.

The heady days of the Premier League seem a long way away, and they're more likely to be gracing Field Mill and Sincil Bank next season than they are Villa Park.

They recently signed James Collins to boost their hopes of staying in the second tier and he's settled quickly to have a decent impact on the squad.

Paul Lambert is hoping to remain at the club even if they go down and he'll maybe look to add some more steel to their side, just on the off chance they might be able to pull off a great escape.

Having already been in for one free agent, here's three more they could snap up to help push them back up the table.

Joe Ledley

He left Derby this January and he's a proven player at this level. he might not be up to a top six push in Frank Lampard's eyes, but his experience would be invaluable at Portman Road.

Could they meet his wages? Who knows, with fixtures against Reading, Preston and Bolton to come, he might be the difference between a brave fight or relegation at Easter.

Ibrahim Afellay

He's one recently in the Championship with Stoke but deemed surplus to requirements. He hasn't played a lot of matches for the Potters, but he has that little bit of flair that Ipswich have missed.

Is he a luxury player? Maybe, but who knows what he could conjure up in the dying minutes of an important game?

Jordon Mutch

He had been linked with a move to South Korea, but that didn't happen and he's still after a club. He would be a sensational signing for Ipswich, even on a short-term deal.

He's got Premier League quality and a big point to prove. At 27-years-old he's also right in his prime as well.
