Bristol City have had a season which can only be described as ‘mid-table mediocrity’, picking up 16 points from the opening 11 fixtures.

Lee Johnson’s men have shown glimpses of their best at times, or glimpses of why they were so raved about last season. Despite this, at other times, they have looked poor especially at the back.

The Robins are winless in four, and most recently played out a bore draw at the New York Stadium on Wednesday.

A few players have been failing to hit the heights of last season, which may lead Lee Johnson to feel the need to assess his squad.

However, unfortunately for Johnson, the transfer window is still a long way away in football terms.

Although it opens in just under three months, the November and December period is often where seasons go through a ‘make or break’ time.

Therefore, Johnson may head into the free agents market to bolster his options.

Here at FLW, we look at THREE free agents still available for Bristol City…

Darren Bent is available after his release from Derby County in the summer and could represent a good addition for Bristol City.

The striker, last of Burton on loan, will not be a signing to come in and play every week, but he could nick some goals off the bench and start upturning the fortunes of the Robins.

James Collins is one of the most sought after free agents at the moment, with Villa and West Brom closely monitoring his situation.

The big defender could fill a void left by Aden Flint with his demanding physique and leadership qualities, so would be a good signing for Bristol City if they could tempt him.

The ex-England full-back is available for a free transfer after being released by relegated Stoke City in the summer.

Johnson is vastly experienced at many levels and although he may be past it in terms of playing abilities, he would add some needed experience in the dressing room and could be a valuable asset for Bristol City.
