A striker is what most Cardiff fans were wanting before the most recent transfer window started, and indeed Wednesday's Deadline Day.

Paul Trollope has brought in Frederic Gounongbe and Kenneth Zohore already this summer, but preferred to use midfielders playing out of position in their most recent Championship game, so perhaps it wasn't surprising to see someone come into the Welsh capital on Wednesday.

Rickie Lambert joined from West Bromwich Albion with just seconds to go until the 11pm deadline, but is that enough?

If Lambert was to get an injury, or lose form, where do Cardiff go? FIFA scrapped the emergency loan window for this season, so Trollope must now wait until January to sign players from other clubs, but free agents are available to sign all year around.

The Bluebirds haven't started the way that a team chasing promotion should, with just the one win over struggling Blackburn before the international break.

They need to start winning games and getting points on the board if they want to go one step further than last year, where they finished in 8th place.

Here, in the opinion of FLW's Ryan Evans, are THREE free agents that Cardiff must look to bring in ASAP.....

Victor Anichebe

anichebeeeeee

The 28-year old was released by West Brom at the end of last season, but Tony Pulis never really gave him a chance, allowing him to just ten appearances in a campaign where he sat on the bench more often than playing.

He was involved in six goals in the previous season for the Baggies, but the best season of his career so far has been the 2012-13 campaign with Everton, where he was involved in 12 goals.

An out and out centre-forward, Anichebe's physicality makes him a handful for defenders when he's at his best, and would probably favour a move to the Championship rather than going abroad after playing his entire career in England.

The Nigerian international is still in the prime of his career, and would bring plenty of experience to the club.

Kevin Constant

An ex-AC Milan player, Constant is looking for a club following his release from Bologna over the summer.

He made 57 appearances during his time at the San Siro where, when fit, he was the club's first choice left-back. The 29-year old can also get on the score-sheet too, with 15 goals and 14 assists during his two seasons at Chateauroux.

He's a 25-time Guinean international, and is able to play at left and central midfield too, representing incredible versatility that means he would be an excellent signing for a Championship club, including Cardiff.

Nicklas Bendtner

Nicklas Bendtner

The ex-Arsenal striker was linked with Brighton and Norwich on Tuesday, but a move didn't materialise before the deadline.

The 28-year old has spent the last two years at Wolfsburg before having his contract terminated 12 months prematurely after falling out of favour to new signing Mario Gomez and Bas Dost before the latter moving to Sporting in Portugal.

He'd make a great option for Cardiff: he's strong, can hold the ball up, is fairly sharp off the mark and knows where the net is. Bendtner was holding out for a return to the Premier League, but as that wasn't forthcoming, he was believed to have settled for the second tier. Cardiff want to be one of the top few sides in the league, so attracting Bendtner will be a serious boost.
