Brentford are one of the teams in the Championship that have had a decent, if not slightly underwhelming start.

The Bees aren't one of the teams that are expected to furiously challenge for promotion this season but if we've seen anything so far this season, it's that anyone has the right to mount a push for the top six.

Barnsley have started very well and they sit in third but its Huddersfield Town who have really taken the initiative and under David Wagner, the Terriers look very solid indeed.

So it shows with a decent number of new faces success is possible and it's fair to say Dean Smith's Brentford might be better than their 14th place standing suggests.

But how do they get better now the window has shut? Well, one option is the free agent market and there are plenty of players around that are still available of free transfers.

So with that in mind, here's THREE free agents Dean Smith should be looking at going forward for the Bees.

Jose Enrique

Former Liverpool and Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique is currently without a club and there are plenty of people wandering why.

He was paid out of his contract at Liverpool earlier this summer but wasn't immediately picked up by a club.

This would be a fantastic opportunity for a side like Brentford to come in and steal a player with plenty of top-flight experience and one that can certainly add to their depth.

Leon Osman

Eveton stalwart Leon Osman is a true professional who, until the end of last season, had been playing for Everton his entire career.

He made over 350 appearances for the Toffees in a spell that spanned over 16 years.

He may now be 35, but don't rule Leon Osman out and our understanding is he'd make a fantastic signing for Brentford.

He's a hard-working midfielder who gives everything for the side.

The Bees have had a solid enough start to the season and a player like Osman could really take them up a notch, if he's got a hard season of Championship action in his legs.

Dimitar Berbatov

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is a household name in England these days after a pretty decent spell with the Red Devils back in 2008.

He's most recently been with Greek outfit PAOK and did pretty well out there, scoring five in 25 appearances. But he's now another free agent that is floating around waiting for someone to snap him up and Brentford could do far worse.

He may not be everyone's cup of tea but you cannot argue his quality at all. At this level he'd be a great addition and could be one that assures the Bees' safety come the end of the season.
