With the League One campaign now done and dusted, Sheffield United need to start thinking about potential summer transfer targets.

In what has been a perfect season in every sense for the Blades, if Chris Wilder's side are to achieve similar success in the Championship, the addition of a few new faces over the summer will be crucial.

This season, Wilder brought players such as John Fleck, Jack O'Connell and Simon Moore to Bramall Lane which have all been huge success stories, so it will be very interesting as to who he recruits next term.

It is definitely a mystery who Wilder will be looking to replace in what has been such a dominant side, as there isn't one player in this season's recurring United starting eleven that looks out of place.

A tactic the Blades boss might utilise, is looking at players on the market that have previously played for United in their career, given their experience at Bramall Lane, it may prove easier for them to fit into what is already such a strong side.

With that in mind, here are THREE former Sheffield United players that Chris Wilder should consider re-signing for next season...

Jamie Murphy

Murphy signed for the Blades back in 2013 from Scottish side Motherwell, and in his two and a half year spell at Bramall Lane he became a fan-favourite after constantly performing at a high-level.

Unfortunately, after failing to gain promotion with the Blades, in the summer of 2015, the Scottish winger left and joined Brighton in a bid for Championship football.

With not only United gaining promotion back into the Championship, Brighton have also got promoted into the Premier League, meaning game time for the 27-year-old may be hard to come by at the Amex.

Murphy's ability to play as a number 10 fits him straight into Wilder's current formation, although he offers the dimension of player wingers which the Blades haven't tried this season.

The former Scotland under-21 still has a two-year contract at Brighton to run down, which may mean United will have to spend a bit of cash on the deal. However, with Brighton being a Premiership side a season long loan deal may be on the cards with potentially a future transfer fee clause.

Conor Coady

Playing for the Blades back in 2013 on-loan from Liverpool, Coady impressed many other teams during his time at United which warranted him a transfer to Championship side Huddersfield instead of staying at Bramall Lane on a permanent basis.

The 24-year-old is now enjoying his football at Wolverhampton, where he is a regular in Paul Lambert's team. Originally a defensive midfielder, Lambert has moulded Coady into a utility man, as Coady has put shifts in the midfield, on the wing and consistently at right-back.

He would be perfect fit back in United's midfield, as playing him alongside either Fleck or Paul Coutts in the middle of the park as a midfield two or three, Coady would allow the others to push forward due to his high work-rate and defensive mentality.

Although, if Coady can replicate his play-style that he utilised at Bramall Lane, he doesn't just offer a brilliant defensive-minded player but he's also fantastic at pushing forward and running at defenses.

Nick Blackman

In what was only a short spell at Bramall Lane, Blackman signed for the Blades in the summer of 2012 from Blackburn and was so impressive during his spell, warranted a move January 2013 of the same season, to Reading, who at the time were a Premier League club.

Scoring 14 goals in 33 appearances, Blades fans were devastated when the 27-year-old left the club and left a whole in United's side which wasn't filled until two years later when Billy Sharp returned to the club.

With Blackman currently struggling to get game time at Derby, a move away from Pride Park may benefit his career, and with the Blades back in the Championship, Blackman will surely be tempted to return back to Bramall Lane.

The English striker not only possess great height and strength but is also remarkably quick, and would most definitely work wonders leading the line with Sharp up front.

Blades fans...What do you think? Would you take either of these three back at Bramall Lane? Is there any other former Blades you'd like to see return? Let us know in the comments below!
