If there's anything supporters at any club enjoy more than anything else, it's for a young player to come into the side and absolutely tear opposing teams apart.

We've seen the likes of Demarai Gray at Birmingham City, Kortney Hause at Wolves oand James Tilley at Brighton come into the starting eleven and take their chance really well, forcing their way into their respective managers' plans.

But another way Football League sides go about their business is my following the progress of other youngsters at this level or below, and taking a chance on them whilst their still in their early days of development. This way, the transfer fee is much less than if they've made dozens of appearances for the first-team.

Take Marcus Rashford for example at Manchester United. This time last season, no-one knew who he was but now, he's one of the worlds hottest prospects.

So for new manager Jaap Stam at Reading, the chance to sign some of the countries' hottest prospects (particularly defenders) will be right at the top of his to-do list.

With this in mind then, here's THREE Football League prospects Jaap Stam should bring to Reading...

Sammie Szmodics

Sammie Szmodicsss

You have to wonder how a young midfielder of just 20 years of age makes over 50 appearances for a League One side, without being linked with other teams.

But that's exactly what Colchester United attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics has done, impressing early doors this season for John McGreal's side as they aim to get back into League One at the first attempt.

Szmodics suffered an ankle injury which kept him out of a large part of last season but he looks raring to go this time out. Would make a cracking addition to this Reading squad, even if it was with one eye on the future. Great career ahead of him.

Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill

Now we're talking the same language as Jaap Stam with this young man, Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, who plays for Swindon Town.

The 21-year-old left-back, who signed with the Robbins after being released by Arsenal made over 30 appearances for the Wiltshire side last season, impressing as he well and truly made the position his own.

He's quick and reads the game exceptionally well. A player that wouldn't be too far away from the Royals first-team, if Stam made a move.

Semi Ajayi

Another player who was released from Arsenal after failing to make the jump from academy to first-team, centre-back Ajayi now plays his football at Cardiff City.

But he's struggling to get games for the Bluebirds, despite signing a two year deal following a loan spell in the 2014-2015 season.

He's spent time on-loan at Crewe Alexandra, where he seriously impressed, with some Cardiff supporters asking why he doesn't deserve a shot in the first-team.

But if he does grow frustrated with lack of opportunity in Wales, surely a manager like Jaap Stam can help develop his game.
