The Welsh capital side has generally not made the best of starts to the new season – after picking up just one point in their first two Championship games and being knocked out by Severnside neighbours Bristol Rovers in the EFL cup.

Cardiff boss Paul Trollope has dipped into the transfer market, but the players that he has brought in are hardly going to set the world alight for the Bluebirds supporters.

With only two weeks left until the transfer window slams shut, Trollope will be working hard to make his final tweaks to his squad to make sure they push for a top six finish in the Championship after just missing out last year.

The Bluebirds boss has spoken out recently that he wants at least two more new signings, and he will have plenty of talented prospects from the Football League to pick from, who could push them over the line in the play-off chase.

Football League World Writer, Ashley Williams identifies THREE Football League prospects that the club should look to bring in..

Bradley Dack

The Gillingham midfielder has been the subject of huge speculation over the summer with a move to the Championship touted across several media and news platforms.

The midfielder was the best player in League One last season after scooping the player of the year accolade at the Football League awards in May.

The Kent side have rejected several bids from the likes of Cardiff’s rivals Bristol City, but with a side like Cardiff, who have higher ambitions than the Robins, Dack could be tempted with the proposition of moving to South Wales.

Zach Clough

The young striker was left out of Bolton’s opening League One clash against Sheffield United amid interest from Middlesbrough and Fulham.

Bolton still need to generate funds and Clough is viewed as one of their most viable assets with the club willing to sell for around £2million.

Clough scored six goals in ten games during his breakthrough season and managed another seven last year despite missing part of campaign with a dislocated shoulder.

£2 million is well within Cardiff’s budget and after only bringing in one striker this year, Clough could be the answer to their goal scoring problems.

Jack Marriott

The 21-year old enjoyed a superb season at Luton Town last year after finishing as the club’s top scorer with 16 goals, and is continuing his form into the new season with a goal against Plymouth Argyle on the opening day of the League Two campaign.

Marriott is certainly a promising player for Cardiff City, who should consider a bid for the Luton forward.

With experience in the Championship, Marriott could become a top player in the future.
