Barnsley bounced back after a rocky start to life back in the Championship with an excellent win over Derby County last weekend, but went down to a last minute winner by Huddersfield yesterday.

After two seasons outside of the second-tier, the Yorkshire outfit will be looking to become an established Championship side once again.

The Tykes have bolstered their side significantly over the summer to make sure they are not overburdened by some of the talented sides that the Championship has to offer.

Sessi D’Almeida, Ryan Kent, Tom Bradshaw, George Moncur, Elliot Lee, Adam Hammill, Andy Yiadom and Stefan Payne all made switches to Oakwell over the summer.

With the acquisitions that Barnsley have brought in, they are significantly experienced in spotting Football League talent with George Moncur and Tom Bradshaw catching the eye of several sides due to their impressive performances in League One last season.

The club have just under two weeks to add any more players to their squad, and Tykes boss Paul Heckingbottom will certainly not be finished with his transfer business just yet.

Football League World Writer, Ashley Williams identifies THREE Football League prospects that the club should look to bring in…

Adam Armstrong

The Newcastle United striker spent last season on loan at Coventry City and made a real impact at the League One club.

The youngster finished as the Sky Blues' top scorer, and has now been linked with a number of Championship clubs.

Newcastle have a number of options up front with the likes of Ayoze Perez, Dwight Gayle, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Emmanuel Riviere, so Armstrong could find it tough to hold down a regular spot.

Armstrong could prove to be a great addition at Oakwell and would form a great partnership with Tom Bradshaw up front.

Rico Henry

The talented left-back is known to be interesting a host of clubs in the Premier League and Championship following his starring displays for the Saddlers last year.

Henry also received his first call-up to the England under 21’s in November last year and could test himself in the tough nature of the Championship.

Henry is a talented prospect for Barnsley, who would only improve their defence.

Aaron Pierre

The 23-year-old has been a stand-out performer for Wycombe Wanderers during the last two league campaigns, attracting interest from a host of sides this summer.

Pierre showed that he could also hold his own against Aston Villa in the FA Cup last season, and would be an excellent prospect for Barnsley.

The central defender is extremely strong, and organises his back-four extremely well and is a player I feel that he would be able to cope with the rough and tumble of the Championship.
