Rotherham United remain well in the hunt for promotion back into the Championship this season under the guidance of Paul Warne.

The Millers are currently sat second in the League One table with ten games remaining of their season, as they look to make a swift return to the second-tier of English football.

But it's set to be a tense finish for Rotherham supporters, with a number of sides closing in on them as they approach the final stages of this year's campaign.

Only five points separates Paul Warne's men and Oxford United who are sat just a place outside of the play-off positions.

But with Coventry City just two points ahead of the Millers, they'll certainly be confident of closing down the Sky Blues in the near future.

They won't want to have to learn their fait on the final day of the season either, as they have a tricky test against last year's play-off finalists Sunderland.

We look at THREE factors that will define Rotherham United's season from here.

Beating the teams around them in the League One table.

Rotherham have got a tricky run of fixtures towards the end of this year's campaign, which won't be easy by any stretch of the imagination.

The likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Portsmouth, Fleetwood Town and Sunderland still have to face off with Paul Warne's side for a second time this term.

It's vital that the Millers pick up positive results against these teams, as they'll slide down the League One table at a rapid rate if they drop points against the teams around them.

Their home form needs to be improved.

Even though Rotherham are currently flying high in League One, their home form could certainly do with some work before the season reaches a conclusion.

The Millers have won eight, drawn five and lost four games in total at the New York Stadium this season, which doesn't make for the best of reading for any promotion-chasing side in the third-tier.

If they're to stay in touch with league-leaders Coventry City, then they'll need to start picking up wins at the earliest of opportunities.

Keeping key players fit for the remainder of the season.

For any team that is challenging for promotion, they're going to want to have their key players fit and ready to play their part in a promotion bid.

The likes of Daniel Barlaser and Freddie Ladapo (pictured) have been key to the success with Rotherham so far this season, and Paul Warne will be hoping that they can stay fit for the remainder of this year's league campaign.

Any potential injuries could disrupt that promotion bid, which would be the worst possible scenario for both Paul Warne and the club's supporters who are eager to see a swift return to the Championship this season.
