Queens Park Rangers host Nottingham Forest in the Championship this evening, as R's boss Mark Warburton looks to end a five-game winless streak against a former club.

Without a win in over a month, QPR have sunk to 12th in the table. Their opponents tonight are 5th but with a game in hand, and it's the club where Warburton spent most of 2017.

After leaving Rangers, the 57-year-old's next job in football was at the City Ground. He would last less than a year there though, being sacked on New Year's Eve with Forest 14th in the Championship.

It'll be an interesting encounter between two of Warburton's teams, and here we take a look at three factors that will decide the fixture:

Who plays in goal for QPR

This has been something of a sticky situation for Warburton. QPR started the season with Joe Lumley in goal before replacing him with Liam Kelly, before going back to Lumley again.

It's suspected that Kelly is carrying an injury as he's not been in the matchday squads for the last two outings and in his place, Lumley, especially against Fulham before the weekend, has struggled.

He was at fault for Fulham's second goal on Friday night and looked down on confidence throughout, whilst Kelly was starting to look comfortable in goal before his 'injury'.

It'll be interesting to see who Warburton selects tonight, and it could be a decisive factor in the game.

Which Wells turns up

Nahki Wells is another QPR player who looked so shot of confidence against Fulham. This is a man who thrives of confidence and with eight from 15 in the league for QPR this season, he should be on his way to his best return for goals in a season for a while.

But in the last few games for QPR he's made little an impact - he scored in the draw against Middlesbrough but also set-up Britt Assombalonga for their equaliser and against Fulham, he missed a couple of chances to double QPR's early lead.

A match-winner of his day, which Wells turns up is anyone's guess but if the sprightly, tenacious and prolific Wells prevails, then the Forest defence will be in for a tricky evening.

History

QPR have only won three of their last 16 games against Nottingham Forest. They've been a bogey team of the West Londoners this decade and Forest have enjoyed some big wins over them - Forest put five past QPR in this fixture last year.

History often plays a part in football and it wouldn't be a surprise if it does tonight. Warburton's side have now conceded 32 goals in 17 Championship games and are still the only team in the league to do so - it'd be nothing short of miraculous if they keep their first clean sheet against Forest tonight.

Forest aren't the highest scoring team this season though, so it's unlikely that Forest will put a handful past QPR. Anything can be expected in this fixture though and it' sure to be an exciting one in-front of the Sky cameras.
