Nottingham Forest have been fairly tame in the transfer window this summer after bringing in just four acquisitions to the City Ground.

The club have hardly splashed the cash, but are working under a tight budget after being placed under a transfer embargo last season.

Forest have gone down the route of bargain deals during the window after bringing in Armand Traore and Thomas Lam on free transfers, former Everton striker Apostolos Vellios for a fee of £950,000, and a season-long loan deal for Hildeberto Pereira from Benfica.

Forest boss, Philippe Montanier will definitely have a tough job on his hands for the new season, but he will be finding ways to continue improving the squad right up until midnight on the last day of August.

The Reds looked to their youngster to shine last season after being stuck in a transfer embargo, but a side needs a mix of experience and up and coming talent, with Forest lacking in experienced players.

Football League World Writer, Ashley Williams identifies THREE experienced players that Forest should look to sign....

Joleon Lescott

Lescott looks destined for a move out of Villa and looks likely to be released on a free transfer.

Leeds are currently on the hunt for Lescott, but Forest should look to hijack their pursuit of the former England international, who would bring in a wealth of experience into the club.

The 33-year-old fell out with the Villa supporters for tweeting a photo of a Porsche after a 6-0 home defeat to Liverpool, later insisting it was an accident and sent from his phone while driving.

Despite Lescott’s floors last year, he would certainly sharpen up the Forest defence.

Marouane Chamakh

Nottingham Forest need more quality in forward positions, and Marouane Chamakh could be the answer.

Forest were woeful in front of goal last season, and managed just 43 goals in 46 Championship outings.

Even with the signing of Vellios, they are in desperate need of more fire-power in forward positions, and an ideal addition would be the former Arsenal and Crystal Palace striker.

The Moroccan is available on a free transfer following his release from Selhurst Park and has a vast amount of experience playing at the highest level, and works tirelessly for the team.

Stephane Sessegnon

Sessegnon

Sessegnon was released last month by West Bromwich Albion, and his departure was met with derision from many at the Hawthorns, who, despite his inconsistency, was valued for his attacking flair.

He could be great addition to the Forest squad and really re-ignite their attacking firepower that they significantly lacked last season.

The Benin international, who has over 60 caps to his name, proved himself to be a real live wire after he joined Sunderland during the 2010-11 season.

He left to join West Brom in 2013, but he has only shown glimpses of what he is capable, netting nine goals during his time at The Hawthorns.
