There was a pretty underwhelming start for Cardiff City this weekend as they could only draw 0-0 with Birmingham City at St Andrews.

The 1500 Bluebirds supporters who made the trip to Birmingham wouldn't have been too impressed at what they saw, with a lack of finishing quality definitely seeming apparent in Paul Trollope's side.

Birmingham keeper Tomasz Kuszczak made some fantastic saves to keep his side in the contest but Cardiff will need a little more going forward, if they are going to challenge in the Championship this year.

Whilst the Bluebirds have been quite busy in the transfer window this summer, non of their signings have been particularly high-profile, with Jazz Richards probably being the stand-out addition.

But after the game against the Blues, it's clear Cardiff need a little bit more experienced quality in their ranks.

So with that in mind, here's THREE experienced players they should sign this summer...

Aiden McGeady

McGeady has endured a tough spell at Everton over the past couple of months and it seems like change is needed for the Republic of Ireland international.

With Ronald Koeman's arrival at Goodison now confirmed, the former Spartak Moscow man has told he should look for a new club- cue a Bluebirds swoop.

He'd offer vast amounts of experience on the wing, and also all the skill, trickery and pace we've come to expect from the 30-year-old.

Paul Caddis

With Fabio being linked with a move to Middlesbrough, Cardiff City could do with perhaps one more player to provide defensive cover for Lee Peltier and Jazz Richards.

And one man that is particularly experienced at this level is Birmingham City defender Paul Caddis.

The former Swindon captain was controversially left out of the squad for the game against the Bluebirds this weekend and some Bluenoses have now touted him with a move away from the club.

Could Cardiff make a move?

Dean Whitehead

An absolute stalwart at this level, former Stoke City midfielder Dean Whitehead now plays for Huddersfield Town.

The 34-year-old didn't feature for the Terriers this weekend and could grow weary as David Wagner begins instilling his own philosophies on the side.

He'd bring bags of experience to the Cardiff midfield, which looked a little flat against Birmingham this weekend.
