It's been a tough summer for Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett, and it's left some of their supporters a little underwhelmed as the season began this weekend against Cardiff City.

The Blues could only a muster a 0-0 draw at home against the Welsh side, and have only managed to sign two former loanees this summer in Robert Tesche and Ryan Shotton.

Despite manager Gary Rowett claiming that he has made over 200 lines of enquiries regarding players this summer, Blues have been repeatedly pipped to the post by their rivals in terms of bringing in transfer targets.

And on the back of Saturday's bore-draw against Paul Trollope's Bluebirds, it's clear to see that the St Andrews side need some experienced reinforcements, if they've got any hope of having a strong season.

So with that in mind, here's THREE experienced players Gary Rowett should sign to kickstart Birmingham's campaign this summer....

Craig Noone

Whilst he might not be the oldest player in this list, Craig Noone has been around long enough to know what this level is all about.

He's going into his fifth year with Cardiff City, where he's been a key player for a number of years now. A quick, intelligent winger, Noone adds plenty of creativity and direction to the Bluebirds flanks and he'd be a canny edition to Birmingham's side, who looked a little lacklustre on Saturday.

Adam Le Fondre

Perhaps what Birmingham City need more than anything else right now is a goalscorer. Blues fans have been begging club bosses to bring in a front-man all summer and as experienced names go, you can't go much better than Adam Le Fondre, at this level.

The Cardiff City frontman has been told by Cardiff boss Paul Trollope that he and Federico Macheda can leave Wales this summer - paving way with a move to St Andrews.

He's had fantastic spells at Reading and Rotherham during his career and he'd bring plenty of experience to a Birmingham team that needs goals.

Danny Fox

Another Championship stalwart, Danny Fox is a man who has been around at this level for some time now.

Now with Nottingham Forest, the 30-year-old would be an extremely useful addition in at left-back, where Jonathan Grounds has played uncontested for far too long now.

The former Oldham man needs some competition to keep him on his toes, and as experience goes, Danny Fox could definitely do a job at this level still.
