Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk will be looking to extend the club's current unbeaten run to three games on Tuesday when they face Everton in the Carabao Cup.

The Owls set up a meeting with the Toffees after securing a dramatic last minute victory over Rotherham United in the second round of the competition and will be determined to cause a shock at Hillsborough.

Having illustrated a great deal of character to secure a draw against Fulham last Saturday, Wednesday will be confident in their ability to take the game to Everton.

The Toffees, who suffered a shock defeat to the Owls' arch-rivals Sheffield United on Saturday, will be aiming to reach the fourth round of the Carabao Cup for the second year in succession.

Here, we take a look at three Everton flaws that Wednesday should be looking to exploit tomorrow night...

They have been poor defensively this season

Having already conceded 11 goals in all competitions this season, Everton will be nervous in a defensive sense heading into Tuesday's fixture.

Whilst Jordan Pickford has not suffered from a drop-off in performance, the same cannot be said for Yerry Mina or Michael Keane who have been very poor in recent weeks.

Providing that Wednesday put the Toffees under pressure from the outset of the clash, they could cause Marco Silva's side a whole host of problems at Hillsborough.

Silva's side are susceptible to the counter-attack

Despite dominating possession against the Blades on Saturday, Everton were left empty-handed as Chris Wilder's side clinched a smash-and-grab victory.

Having illustrated in this clash that they are susceptible to the counter-attack, the Toffees may be in for a tough night if Monk decides to adopt a similar ploy.

Providing that they utilise the pace that Kadeem Harris and Jacob Murphy both possess, the Owls will have a fantastic chance of progressing into the next round of the Carabao Cup.

The Toffees' recent away form has been far from convincing

Whilst Everton have won six of their last seven games at Goodison Park, their recent away form in the Premier League has been relatively poor.

Having started the season with a draw at Crystal Palace, the Toffees have since lost back-to-back to Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth in which they conceded a combined total of five goals.

With Wednesday's fans expected to produce a raucous atmosphere at Hillsborough, there is every chance that Monk's side will deliver a night to remember against Everton.
