Nottingham Forest Football Club has been a hotbed of footballing talent over the years, with several academy graduates going onto play in the higher echelons of the football pyramid and in some cases the international stage.

The Reds might not have enjoyed a great amount of success at first-team level during recent seasons, but the performances of the development squads does enough to suggest that the future is certainly bright at the City Ground.

Strapping central defender Joe Worrall is the latest to emerge from the conveyor belt of talent that is the youth team, with several other younger players knocking on the door of Philippe Montanier's first-team squad.

The Nigel Doughty Academy is one of the finest academy's in the country and the club can be very proud of the work which is currently being done by the likes of Gary Brazil and Jack Lester, in producing some mightily talented young players.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke looks at three emerging attack-minded talents who are sure to get Forest fans excited in the future.

Ben Brereton

The Forest youngster is still only 17-years-old and his nine goals in 16 games for the under-23's this season has done enough to suggest he can have a bright future at the club.

The striker possesses good technical ability and also has the power to trouble central defenders, despite a relatively small build.

At present he is clearly relishing playing regularly for the development squad, but it looks inevitable that he will be handed a chance in the first-team before the 2016/17 campaign comes to a close.

Toby Edser

The 17-year-old signed for Nottingham Forest in July 2015, following his release from Charlton Athletic, a move which now looks to be somewhat foolish by the South London-based club.

Forest academy boss Gary Brazil has handed Edser an opportunity to make his way into professional football with Nottingham Forest and earlier this season was rewarded with a first pro deal, on the back of some fine performances.

Despite his tender years Edser is a regular in Jack Lester's under-23 squad and was named on the bench for first-team fixtures against Cardiff City and Reading earlier in the campaign.

Lewis Walters

The former Leeds United youngster was picked up by Nottingham Forest during the summer, following his release from the Whites, with the player making a steady start to life at the club.

The 21-year-old has been a regular in Jack Lester's under-23 side and he has netted twice in his six appearances for the team.

With the right guidance and leadership Walters could well go onto become a regular in the Forest first-team, with his speed and tenacity his main attributes.
