Birmingham City might have to brace themselves for a titanic departure at the club in January.

According to Football Insider, Sheffield United are reported to hold an interest in signing Blues playmaker Jota as Chris Wilder looks to add more creativity to his side to sustain a promotion charge.

The 27-year-old has the joint most assists in the division this term with four, as well as scoring once for his side.

His departure would cause severe repercussions at St. Andrew's considering he is their critical attacking influencer.

Without him, Garry Monk’s men could be in for a harsh winter as they look to continue their slow climb up the Championship table.

It is never easy to replace such a talented player but should Jota go; some things would be affected upon his exit.

With that said here are three consequences to Birmingham if Sheffield United manage to prize Jota away from Birmingham City in January.

Jota not only scores and registers assists, but his all-round game allows Birmingham to move up the pitch and get into advanced positions.

He is adept at getting the ball forward and well as moving into pockets of space to be an outlet for Garry Monk’s men as they advance.

Without him, that spark of creativity goes, and Birmingham will have to find an alternative to his effervescent creativity.

If Jota is sold in January, then Birmingham could lose their cutting edge regarding chances created.

The Spaniard has registered four assists - double that of any other member of the Birmingham team.

Without him, they lack real quality in the final third going forward.

He is their leading man in attack to provide the firepower.

Every game that Jota has either scored or assisted in, Birmingham have not lost.

Three have been drawn, and one was a victory.

If you take his involvement out of those matches, It becomes three defeats and a draw.

That has been the undeniable effect he has had on Garry Monk’s side this term.

He can swing matches in Birmingham’s favour, but without him, they could be looking at a creative void and a lack of influence going forward.
