Lewis Baker’s arrival at Elland Road has certainly got Leeds United’s supporters excited, with many looking forward to seeing the ex-England under-21 international in action.

Leeds moved to announce that Baker had arrived on a season-long loan on Saturday, with Leeds agreeing a deal with Chelsea for the midfielder’s service.

The midfielder is embarking on his second successive year in the Championship, having spent the last 12 months with Leeds’ rivals, Middlesbrough.

During his spell at the Riverside Stadium, Baker struggled, with the 23-year-old making just 14 appearances and returning two goals.

However, Leeds’ supporters are still encouraged by his signing, with big things expected from the Chelsea loanee.

Of course, when a new player arrives at a club, there are consequences.

With that in mind, we take a look at THREE consequences of Baker signing for Leeds ahead of the new season…

Klich has struggled at Elland Road, with Baker’s arrival has pushed him further down the pecking order.

Adam Forshaw, Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips are all other midfield options, who along with Baker, will feature ahead of Klich.

It’s hard to imagine Marcelo Bielsa wanting more than four central midfielders on board.

In the last two years, we’ve seen Pablo Hernandez score some wonderful free-kicks for Leeds.

However, Baker is a dead ball specialist, who will be in contention to strike anything around the edge of the area.

The 23-year-old is good with both feet and a real weapon in these situations.

Baker has arrived from Chelsea, whilst Leeds have also been linked with Jamal Blackman, another Chelsea youngster.

The midfielder’s arrival could be the beginning of a blossoming relationship between Leeds and Chelsea.

That could be a huge benefit for the Whites in the coming years.
