Attention at Elland Road is slowly turning to the summer transfer window, with Leeds United not troubling the Sky Bet Championship’s top-six.

Just two victories since Boxing Day have left Leeds in 13th, with Heckingbottom’s squad way short in terms of competing for the top-six.

Since the turn of the year Leeds have been found out, with results hard to come by and huge flaws on show within the playing squad.

Heckingbottom’s attention is turning to the summer, with Leeds already linked with a move for Barnsley’s Andy Yiadom, who previously worked with Heckingbottom at Oakwell.

Yiadom, who can play at left-back and right-back, becomes a free agent in the summer, with Heckingbottom seemingly keen to link back up with the defender who has impressed in the last two years at Championship level.

Here at FLW, we take a look at the possibility of Yiadom arriving at Elland Road and identify THREE consequences of Leeds sealing a deal for the 26-year-old…

Berardi is a player Leeds’ supporters love, with the Swiss defender able to cover on both the left and right of defence, like Yiadom.

The passion Berardi shows has endeared him to Leeds’ fanbase, but ultimately Yiadom would be a better utility man in defence.

His arrival could lead to the departure of the popular Berardi.

Ayling has been Leeds’ first choice right-back over the last two seasons, but injury has prevented him from featuring during the second-half of the campaign.

Next season, should Yiadom arrive, Ayling could well switch to central defence, where he has previously impressed for Leeds.

Leeds need more options in central defence and Heckingbottom might be tempted to move the 26-year-old alongside Pontus Jansson.

Heckingbottom’s first known target is a player he has previously worked with, which indicates, he could look to add more of his former players at Elland Road.

During his time at Oakwell, Heckingbottom worked with players like Conor Hourihane, Sam Winnall and Oli McBurnie, who would all improve Leeds’ current squad.

If Heckingbottom targets some of his ex-players, Leeds could be in for an exciting summer.
