According to reports from Chronicle Live, Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe is being "continually monitored" by Premier League side Newcastle United ahead of a potential summer move.

The Magpies, along with fellow top-flight sides Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace, were reportedly interested in signing the 26-year old in January after a hugely impressive season so far.

The forward has been in prolific form in Leeds' promotion push this season, scoring 14 goals in 27 games for Marcelo Bielsa's men as well as producing two assists.

But the Whites have been dealt a huge bid in their hunt for promotion from the Championship, with news emerging that Roofe is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining knee ligament damage.

To lose Roofe potentially for the remainder of this season would be a huge blow, but an even bigger blow would be to lose him to Newcastle in the summer, with Rafa Benitez' men "continually" monitoring the striker according to reports.

Here, we take a look at three clear reasons why Leeds should reject any approach from Newcastle United for Kemar Roofe...

It goes without saying how important Roofe is to Leeds, as they look to gain promotion to the top flight.

We've seen earlier on in the season then when Roofe is injured, they struggle massively, and miss his attacking threat up top.

He has only scored one goal in his last eight games, but every good striker goes through a mini drought, and they may well struggle to cope without their top goalscorer.

Before this season, Roofe was a bit-part player for Leeds, but he has flourished under Marcelo Bielsa and that is largely down to the Argentine's brand of football.

Leeds' high-intensity, pressing style of football subsequently means that he is given more space up front to move around and create chances for himself.

He has been at his most clinical this season, and his movement and work rate up top would be hard to replace.

If all goes well, then Leeds could be in the same league as Newcastle next year, with a push for the Premier League looking quite likely for Bielsa's men.

Leeds fans won't be expecting their side to battle for the European places next season, and more than likely, they will be battling it out with the likes of Newcastle in the bottom-half of the table in an attempt to solidify their place in the top flight.

Leeds simply cannot sell Roofe to what could be their league rivals, as there would uproar at Elland Road.
