Lee Bullen remains caretaker manager of Sheffield Wednesday and if he continues his great start he could have a chance of becoming manager on a permanent basis.

There have been a host of respectable names linked with the role since Steve Bruce's departure, but since that was a few weeks ago, and one target in Chris Hughton has reportedly turned down the role, the club hierarchy could place their trust in Bullen.

He has won two from two and brought back a feel-good factor, and with no names in the frame currently there is every possibility he will be given a chance, particularly if he continues his early success.

The departure of Bruce could have really rocked the club, as could the late lifting of the transfer ban, so here are three reasons why Lee Bullen deserves to be the permanent Owls boss.

He knows the club and the squad very well

Continuity is vital in football but it is an aspect of success which is often overlooked, and Bullen continuing where Bruce left off is a major reason why Wednesday have won their opening matches.

He hasn't changed too much and instead maintained the methods which suit the players available to him, whilst getting the best out of newcomers such as Kadeem Harris and Jacob Murphy.

Although a new manager will be aware of the qualities of the players in the squad, they won't know personal details about them like Bullen now does. He knows their personality and character having worked with them for a prolonged period of time, and that gives him an advantage over a newcomer.

He will also be able to deal with fan expectation and offer them the respect they want, having been at the club as a player and as a coach for a combined 12 years, and that feel-good factor he is starting to spread around the club will help massively in the coming months.

He has installed a positive playing style

Sheffield Wednesday have got off to a great start in all departments so far, conceding one goal and scoring five in their opening two league games.

Bullen showed excellent game management in the game against Reading, and instead of protecting a lead after going down to ten men he trusted his players to show courage and he was rewarded with a third goal in the closing stages.

That positivity and attacking intent is not only what fans want to see, but it will lead to good results and positivity in the dressing room, as players will like being able to express themselves.

Individual performances have improved too and it is clear Bullen has a good relationship with his players, with the form of Sam Hutchinson a particular highlight.

Bullen is an experienced and respected figure in the game

The 48-year-old has spent years coaching and made more than 300 appearances as a player in British football, so he has definitely put in the hard work and deserves a chance, particularly as he has got off to a flyer.

Former Owls player Carlton Palmer has praised Bullen's work so far, and suggests he should at least be given until Christmas because of his passion and previous success at the club, as well as his affinity with the fans.

Bullen has built a working relationship with the players in his squad and they all know what to expect from each other which has created a strong harmony, and since he will continue to get the best out of his players he deserves the role long-term.
