3 clear reasons why it’s no surprise Leeds United are eyeing Swansea City player

Despite Marcelo Bielsa remaining tight-lipped on his transfer business this month at Leeds United, the Leeds boss has seemingly targeted one of his first signings.

Swansea midfielder, Daniel James has emerged as a target for the league-leaders (according to The Sun, 13/01, page 59) who are in need of some depth to their squad, with the injury crisis at Elland Road still evident with a number of key players still sidelined.

It will come as no surprise to see Leeds in the market for an attacking player with Samuel Saiz recently departing the club, in favour of a move to Spanish side, Getafe.

It leaves a sizeable void in the CAM role behind Kemar Roofe, and it’s likely that we’ll see Bielsa in the market for someone to fill that void left by the Spaniard, who struggled to replicate last season’s impressive showing.

But would James be the ideal signing for Leeds this month as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Championship?

We look at the reasons why it’s no surprise to see Leeds pursuing a deal for the Welshman here….

He’s proven in the Championship

James has been impressive for Swansea this season, and it would be the perfect time for him to move.

Instead of taking a gamble on a foreign player, Leeds are certainly making a wise move in pursuing a deal for a player that is proven in English football.

They’ll need James to make an instant impact and play his part in Leeds’ promotion bid this season, with a return to the top flight looking a real possibility.

James is a versatile option to have in the Leeds squad

The Welshman is able to play on either wing, or in the CAM role, which will be a real bonus to Marcelo Bielsa if he was to sign him.

This could potentially see Pablo Hernandez move into his more favourable role behind the striker, which would see Leeds get the best out of both men for the rest of this season.

James suits Bielsa’s style of football

It’s no secret that Swansea like to play a possession-based style of football and so James would have no issues in replicating that style over at Leeds.

His hard work ethic also makes him the ideal player that Marcelo Bielsa would like to have with the Whites for the future.

He could be a hidden gem and is definitely worth a punt by Bielsa this month.
