The League Two title race looks likely to go down to the wire, with Bury just two points behind current leaders Lincoln City.

The Imps play their game in hand this evening, taking on Oldham at Sincil Bank, with Bury looking on knowing their draw at Cheltenham last week could be costly.

The avoided a further slip up this weekend as they bagged a 90th-minute winner against Stevenage to remain in touch with Danny Cowley's side.

Below them, Mansfield lost meaning the gap between the Shakers and fourth place opened up to six points.

With Bury now seemingly set for an automatic promotion spot, their big challenge is to overturn the Imps' lead, which might be as much as five points by tomorrow morning.

It could be a big task, but we've come up with three reasons why they might just snatch the title.

Lincoln still have to play all four sides in the play-off spots, as well as MK Dons in third. It's a tough run in for the Imps and one in which they're likely to drop some points.

That means Bury could capitalise. They only have three of the current top seven left to play, with a succession of matches against midtable sides also to contend with.

Mayor is such a huge talent and his creativity and eye for goal will be crucial.

In the dying stages of the season those big players come to the fore.

If they can get him on the ball and in good positions, he'll certainly hurt the likes of Port Vale, Grimsby and Cambridge, who are all still on the Shakers' fixture list.

[snack_break title="Confidence"]

They're on a sensational run of form, having not lost in the league since Boxing Day. They're in better form than the leaders and have shown fortitude in grabbing late goals, most recently to beat Stevenage.

There's a real confidence running through Ryan Lowe's side and that can keep them going until the very last kick of the campaign.
