Chelsea have one of the best youth academies in the world, and are known for loaning out 30 to 40 youngsters a season in order to develop them.

They have built up partnerships with sides so they can loan there youngsters to them, with the guarantee they will get game time and be developed.

Whilst Mourinho was at the helm, there was a relationship with Middlesbrough as the two men worked with each other at Real Madrid and had built together a striking friendship.

Karanka has often taking advantage of this friendship loaning several young players from Chelsea such as defender Kenneth Omeruo, defender Tomas Kalas and most notably striker Patrick Bamford.

Bamford was a wonderful acquisition for Middlesbrough last season and his 19 goals nearly led Middlesbrough to the Premier League, but they fell short in the play-off final with a 2-0 defeat to Norwich.

But Bamford picked up Championship Player of the Season and left Middlesbrough with the fans' admiration.

Middlesbrough have followed up last season's success with a spending spree, as owner Steve Gibson tries to force through the side's promotion and with the signings of Gaston Ramirez, Ritchie De Laet, Christian Stuani and David Nugent they look a better side than last year.

But there most notable signing by far was gaining the signature of Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes, who was bought recently and with his impressive goal scoring record, could be just what Middlesbrough need in the promotion run in.

They are going well at the moment and sit top of the table but are going through a difficult patch of results and may look into the emergency loan window for players, and Karanka has said that he may look for defensive cover due to the recent injuries to key defenders George Friend and Daniel Ayala.

Middlesbrough have the best defence in the league and will want to protect that status.

Matt Miazga

He would be ideal for the defensive cover craved by Karanka, as the talented American defender can play at left-back or centre-back.

He was signed recently from American side New York Red Bulls, and has represented the USA at every youth level and also holds a senior appearance.

The 20-year-old signed for Chelsea in the January transfer window, and is unlikely to feature for the first team this season, and will be restricted to U21 games and cup matches.

Middlesbrough have a good partnership with Chelsea, and Miazga can join fpllow Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas at Middlesbrough as cover, whilst some for the key ones that are injured.

Also, Miazga is a good attacking threat down the flank and has solid crossing ability.

Ruben Loftus Cheek

The young defensive midfielder has deserved more opportunities in the Chelsea first team, given how poor a season there having.

He has looked promising whenever he has played this season, and has represented England at every youth level.

With only one first team appearance and a few from the bench, Loftus Cheek is being wasted and deserves some more regular football.

Given the inconsistency of the Leadbitter, Clayton partnership for Middlesbrough this season, Loftus Cheek may be what they need as he has some attacking threat, which will help if they go a goal down as usually Middlesbrough struggle to turn over deficit, but with the help of Ruben's excellent vision and excellent passing, he may fit right in.

Bertrand Traore

The forward was sensational when on loan to Vitesse in the Dutch Eredivisie last season, scoring 17 goals and returned to Chelsea with first team intentions.

But it has not happened for Traore, and he has struggled for first team football and he may seek another loan deal to get back on track.

Middlesbrough have some good wingers but the inconsistency of Adomah and Ramirez may spark another move by Karanka, to give him more depth, and the excellent pace and flair of Traore make him an exciting option for the future.
