The January Transfer Window is hotting up as sides are planning to swoop on their targets, to make sure they maintain their positive first half of the season - this is certainly the case for Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town currently fill the last place in the play-offs and are two points ahead of seventh place Sheffield Wednesday.

The Tractor boys have been in good form, winning six out of their last 10 games and Mick McCarthy's men will be confident of remaining inside the top six, when that final whistle blows on the last day of the season.

The club have picked up vital points from teams around them last week, beating Brighton and picking up well deserved point at Burnley.

Ipswich have been renowned to not spend large sums in the Transfer Window and could look to the loan market to improve their squad.

Chelsea have plenty of young players itching to play first team football, and would welcome a loan bid from a Championship side to develop their careers.

The Blues will certainly want to add world class players in January in order to propel themselves back up the table and hope to sneak into the top four.

However with the 25 man squad registration in force, the club will have to offload players in their large squad in order to bring in fresh talent.

Tomas Kalas

Chelsea are planning to recall the defender from his loan spell with Middlesbrough after struggling to hold down a place in the first team.

The Czech Republic defender played a key role in Boro's second half of last season, but has been kept out of the side from the impressive form of Emilio Nsue.

Kalas would be a excellent squad player for Ipswich and the fact that he is comfortable at centre-back and right-back, would provide the club with a useful options.

Ipswich could do with someone of Kalas calibre as they will need a strong defence if they want to secure a play off place.

Patrick Bamford

The English striker made the decision to end his loan spell with Crystal Palace last week, after finding first-team action hard to come by at Selhurst Park.

Ever since returning to Stamford Bridge, Bamford has had interest from sides in the Championship such as QPR and former club Middlesbrough.

The striker enjoyed a excellent spell with Middlesbrough last season scooping up the Player of the Year award for the Championship and scoring 17 goals at the Riverside.

The combination of Daryl Murphy and Bamford could be a mouth watering prospect for Mick McCarthy to consider.

Ruben Loftus Cheek

The talented young midfielder has made just six appearances at Stamford Bridge, and has been unable to prove himself under the stubborn nature of former boss, Jose Mourinho.

He would be an excellent signing for Ipswich Town and although Hiddink has hinted that he could use the midfielder more often, but has the midfielder ran out of patience.

The 21-year-old's last appearance for the club was coming off the bench in stoppage time in Chelsea's 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

The midfielder is guaranteed to start every game until the end of the season with Ipswich and could prove to the Chelsea staff how good he is.
