As Russell Slade’s Cardiff City prepare for the second half of a fairly positive Championship season so far, the boss will be hoping the Welsh club can keep on the coattails of some of the league's bigger spenders.

Currently sitting in ninth place and four points off the final play-off berth, adding some real quality to the squad, in the form of Premier League players could prove the difference between success and failure for Slade.

With owner Vincent Tan no doubt wanting a Premier League return, but seemingly keeping the purse strings tight, I detail in this article how Cardiff may want to utilise the loan market again, and more specifically delve into Guus Hiddink's squad at Chelsea for options.

Despite not building a huge reputation of developing young players over the last few years, there are hidden gems within the Chelsea ranks just waiting to seize a chance in the first team, just like Kurt Zouma.

Chelsea have a number of players that could make a mark at Cardiff this season, and help them battle for a top six spot.

Here are THREE players Cardiff could sign from Chelsea this month.....

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Loftus-Cheek has long been seen by the men in the know at Chelsea as the next big English midfield star for them.

He has represented England at all levels up to Under 21, and at the start of the season was included, and played a big part in Chelsea’s pre-season campaign after making his first team debut towards the end of last season.

With great athleticism and size, and a great touch and range of passing, the big man seemingly has all the attributes to dominate games from the centre of the park.

Jose Mourinho pointed out that Loftus-Cheek needed to work harder to compliment his immense talent.

Spending some time in the Championship would be great for both him, and Cardiff.

Alex Kiwomya

Kiwomya spent part of last season on loan at Barnsley, and after initially impressing, returned to Chelsea to continue his development.

Operating from either wing or down the middle, Kiwomya possesses searing pace and has torn defences apart at Under 21 level for Chelsea, consistently scoring crucial goals for them.

With pace and goals an ever growing factor in becoming successful, Cardiff may well see someone like Kiwomya as worth a gamble in the loan market.

If he can produce the sort of form he has for Chelsea’s U21s, then they will have a real player on their hands.

Patrick Bamford

Having spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough and impressing massively, Bamford is highly courted by Championship clubs.

Having cut short his loan spell at Crystal Palace this season, he seemingly looks available again with chances at Chelsea likely to be at a premium.

If Cardiff could coax Bamford to them, they would be guaranteeing goals which would surely see them climb towards that coveted top six position.

He offers top class movement, excellent finishing ability, and seemingly has the old fashioned knack of being in the right place, at the right time.

Bamford would be a real coup for Cardiff.
