Gary Rowett has been a revelation since he took over at Birmingham City in October of last year, and he has transformed his side into play-off hopefuls.

While the Blues have failed to win any of their last three league games, their position has improved drastically over the last 12 months and Rowett's reputation has enhanced significantly as a result.

One of the manager's toughest tasks, which was a similar situation for his predecessor Lee Clark, is finding players that will improve the team but also fit in with the clubs tight budget.

As a result of the Blues' financial situation, Rowett has to scour the loan market for players and he may find himself looking for another bargain in January.

There surprising start to the season has fans dreaming of a return to the Premier League, but they will have to add some strength in depth if they wish to continue their play-off push.

Alex Kiwomya

The 19-year-old is a versatile forward who is capable of playing on either wing or upfront, and given Birmingham's struggle for goals recently, Kiwomya could be a good signing.

Gary Rowett has a record for getting the best out of young players and the Chelsea forward could really benefit from working with the 41-year-old.

Kiwomya, who has previously had a loan spell with Barnsley, could move to St Andrews and ease some of the pressure off the likes of Clayton Donaldson and Demarai Gray.

Charlie Colkett

Another versatile Chelsea youngster who could find a loan move to St Andrews extremely beneficial is 19-year-old Charlie Colkett.

Capable of playing in defensive midfield, on the left or the centre, he would provide Gary Rowett with options in a number of different positions.

It would be his first taste of competitive football but Colkett could well be a hidden gem for a Championship side, and the Blues should take advantage of it.

Ola Aina

This would be an ambitious signing for Gary Rowett's side, given how highly rated he is by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Aina is a youngster who regularly trains with the first team and he has featured on their bench this season, but he is still without appearance.

He could slot in anywhere in Birmingham's defence and he would be in with a good shout of regular football given his quality.
