Birmingham City will be on the lookout for a new striker this summer with Che Adams poised to leave the club for Southampton.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an outstanding individual campaign for Blues last season, scoring 22 goals for Garry Monk’s side and impressing with his overall game.

Therefore, it was always going to be hard for the west Midlands outfit to keep hold of the striker and it appears a move is imminent, with the Daily Mail revealing he will join the Saints for £16m.

With Blues’ well-documented FFP problems, it seems unlikely that Pep Clotet will be given all of that money to reinvest, however he will hope to use a chunk of it.

Here we look at THREE forwards that could be on his radar to replace Adams…

Callum Robinson

This would be an ambitious move as Robinson is at Preston and had been linked with Norwich until they denied any interest over the weekend.

However, with just one year left on his contract, North End will have a decision to make if a reasonable offer comes in.

In terms of his qualities, the Ireland international has pace, good movement and is always improving, so he would be the ideal fit.

Lys Mousset

With Lukas Jutkiewicz as the target man for Blues, you would imagine that Clotet will want a quick player to play alongside him.

And, Mousset could be the ideal partner. He hasn’t done much since arriving in England with Bournemouth and Eddie Howe may look to move him in now.

Despite his struggles, he has talent and a run of games in the Championship could be exactly what he needs to get his career back on track.

Britt Assombalonga

Alternatively, Blues could go for a proven goalscorer at this level with the funds Adams sale brings in, so Assombalonga is an attractive option.

He hasn’t convinced at Boro who may look to sell and whilst it will be an expensive overall package in terms of fee and wages, the striker scores goals and finding someone to replace Adams contribution is going to cost.
