James Wilson broke into the Manchester United team in 2014 amid a wave of excitement, and duly delivered, with a string of impressive performances during his first few outings.

Since then though, things have not gone quite as well for the 20-year-old when it comes to the Red Devils first team, and this season he found himself out on loan with Brighton.

He has made over 20 appearances since joining the Seagulls, and delivered a return of five goals, but he has not quite lit up the league as expected.

However, there is a clear talent there, and with a season in the Championship under his belt, it might well be that he can offer something more for clubs next term.

With Wilson likely to struggle to break into the Man United team next season as well, we have taken a look at where he could move for the benefit of his career.

Here are THREE Championship clubs who should look to sign James Wilson......

Leeds United

Brighton is a long way from home for Wilson, so a move to somewhere closer may well benefit him.

Leeds United are building steadily under Steve Evans, and Wilson could fit right in with some of the other young, hungry and talent players at Elland Road.

Leeds need goals next season, and Wilson could be the man to provide them given the chance and an extended run in first team football.

Derby County

Derby may well end up in the Premier League, but should they fail to secure promotion via the play offs, then the Rams may well see Wilson as an ideal signing.

He plays with pace and has the ability to play through the middle, or down the wings, something which would benefit Derby and the system they play.

Derby are a good footballing club, and would be an ideal place for the 20 year old to learn his trade further.

Preston North End

It might be that Wilson chooses to stay as close to Manchester as possible, and what better place to choose than Preston.

North End would no doubt snap United's hand off if they were offered Wilson, and Simon Grayson would surely be grateful to add some more pace and firepower to his squad.

Preston have had a good season this term, but will be keen to push on further next season and get themselves closer to the play off places.
