Celtic have been absolutely cruising at the top of the Scottish Premier League all season, and one man that has been at the heart of a lot of their good work this campaign has been Stuart Armstrong.

Fresh from his first international cap and win this weekend, the creative midfielder is playing some of the best football of his career, and it's only natural that the transfer mill is beginning to spin regarding his future at Parkhead.

It seems remarkable that only six months ago the Scottish international couldn't get a game ahead of Tom Rogic in the Bhoys squad whereas now, he's quickly turned into one of the most important players in a squad that has absolutely walked the league this campaign.

And after such a credible performance against Slovenia on Sunday evening, here at the FLW, we think there are a number of sides in the division that should certainly be monitoring his progress going forward.

So with that in mind, here's THREE Championship sides that should be seriously thinking about a move for Armstrong at the end of the season...

Newcastle United

Newcastle United are widely expected to return to the Premier League at the end of the season, with just Brighton really separating them from the title.

They've been superb at times this season but you get the impression that if they do return to the top flight, they need that little bit extra quality going forward and throughout the whole of their side- step forward Stuart Armstrong.

He's done a superb job of unlocking defences all season for the Bhoys and you could imagine a player of his quality really settling in quickly at St James' Park, if the Magpies did make a move.

Leeds United

Leeds United have been chasing the promotion places all season and under Garry Monk, they seem to have a project that is seriously working at Elland Road.

The former Swansea City manager has brought together a team that is capable of winning games week-in, week-out and they've impressed on more occasions than not.

But if they are promoted to the top flight, they're going to need a little more quality in their ranks and Armstrong is certainly the type of player who could make them an established Premier League side once again, if they are promoted.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa certainly aren't short of a few bob or two and as we've seen both in the summer and winter transfer windows, owner Tony Xia certainly isn't afraid to invest heavily in the squad.

This season, it's all been in vain though and the team look set for a prolonged stay in the second division after a poor first-half of the campaign under Roberto Di Matteo.

The Italian struggled to bring together a squad of well-played individuals but one man that would certainly fit the bill is Stuart Armstrong, who is as hard-working as he is talented.

He's the sort of player Villa have been crying out for a man that gives some serious quality in the final third, and a player that can score plenty of goals too.
