The transfer window is fast approaching, and many clubs across the EFL are preparing for what is bound to be a hectic winter period.

There are teams praying to keep hold of their key players, 15-goal stars being linked with dream moves to the Premier League - there are even some former players being linked with a shock move back to England.

The latter has recently been the case for Queens Park Rangers, with news surfacing that former star Adel Taarabt could be set for an unexpected move back to England.

The livewire midfielder, widely known for his time at Loftus Road as well as Tottenham Hotspur, has endured a turbulent time over in Portugal for Benfica, with reports suggesting that he could be set for a loan move back to England in January.

The 29-year old was instrumental for the R's and played an exceptional role in their promotion to the Premier League back in 2010/11 - scoring 19 goals and producing 21 assists in 44 games.

Taarabt's biggest problem has been his attitude, whereas there is no doubting his ability on the ball - so here, we take a look at three Championship clubs that should be eyeing up a move for the midfielder in January.

Why not? The R's have been inconsistent this term and perhaps need that extra lift to cement their position at the top end of the Sky Bet Championship table.

His spell at Loftus Road may have turned sour and he may not be wanted back by a large majority of Hoops fans - but there is no doubting his quality on the ball.

A natural attacking midfielder, the Moroccan could add some real quality and threat to the R's in attack, and he could turn out to be a shrewd addition for QPR.

Swansea are currently lingering in midtable, and similarly to QPR, they need a boost in their quest for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Swans' only real creative outlet is Bersant Celina, and lack depth in their creative areas, so a spark in their attacking areas of the pitch certainly wouldn't go amiss.

They are a big club and could definitely tempt Taarabt to Wales.

With Leeds looking to put the pressure on table-toppers Norwich City, the addition of a livewire, exciting and talented player like Taarabt could work wonders for Marcelo Bielsa's men.

It's no secret that Leeds have sustained their fair share of injuries this term, so they could definitely do with another option in that area.

It's a risk that definitely needs taking.
