Cardiff City are still in contention to seal a Championship play-off spot after battling from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Brentford over the weekend.

Neil Harris would have been seeking a response following back-to-back defeats against Stoke and Nottingham Forest, but the Bluebirds found themselves 2-0 down inside the first 20 minutes after goals from Luka Racic and Bryan Mbeumo.

However, Cardiff then muscled their way back into the game before the interval as Junior Hoilett and Joe Ralls found the net for the Welsh side, and the scores remained level during the second period as Cardiff sealed a point against the Bees.

The result means Cardiff are now sitting five points adrift of the Championship play-off spots with 10 games remaining this term, and Harris' men will now start preparing for an important trip to take on Barnsley this coming weekend.

Here, we take a look at three issues Harris must solve to make the coming month a success...

Dealing with Lee Tomlin's absence

Tomlin was recently ruled out for the bulk of Cardiff's remaining matches this season with a serious knee injury, and the Bluebirds have clearly missed their talisman having failed to win any of the three games in his absence from the side.

The 31-year-old has provided the main creative outlet for Cardiff so far this campaign, with Harris having utilised Tomlin effectively to help him find the net seven times while also registering seven assists in the second tier this season.

Cardiff did prove they are capable of succeeding without Tomlin as they found the net twice over the weekend, but Harris must now try to squeeze every ounce of creativity out of his side during the remaining weeks without Tomlin's services.

Fitting Cardiff's best midfielders into the side

Cardiff's 2-2 draw with the Bees saw the welcome return of midfielder Joe Ralls to the starting line-up following his injury problems, with the 26-year-old proving integral to the Bluebirds' fortunes as he netted the equalising goal before the break.

Ralls' return saw Marlon Pack drop to the bench for the first league game since Harris' appointment in November, and the Cardiff boss should now aim to devise a system where Ralls and Pack can operate alongside Will Vaulks in midfield.

This trio would appear to be the way forward for Cardiff during the remainder of the season, and Harris should definitely experiment with this over the coming matches as the Bluebirds aim to further close the gap on the play-off spots.

Getting the best out of Robert Glatzel

Harris has entrusted Callum Paterson with the task of leading Cardiff's attacking unit in recent weeks, and this has seen Glatzel play more of a bit-part role as he has largely been confined to a spot on the bench for much of 2020 so far.

It must be said Cardiff  play more to the strengths of Paterson given he is stronger and better in the air than Glatzel, but the German did produce a relatively encouraging display when he was deployed from the start against Nottingham Forest.

It would be a surprise to see Glatzel break into the starting line-up ahead of Paterson over the coming matches, but the striker's clear talents mean he could prove to be an effective option from the bench if Cardiff can provide him service.
