Cardiff City are a club that have been very busy with bringing new players in and letting players leave for pastures new over the past few months.

The appointment of Neil Warnock as manager a few weeks back even saw the club take advantage of signing free transfers.

Every transfer coming in and going out of the club is scrutinised by the fans who debate whether a club has done well to get the player for the value they either paid or to sell a player for the fee they received.

The current crop of Cardiff players have either had a transfer fee attached to their name over the past few months or have been brought in to the club for a certain value over the past few months and this is a topic that has caused controversy with supporters.

Here, Football League World writer Steve Day uses Transfermarkt.co.uk to determine which three current Cardiff players possess transfer valuations that will shock you whether they be considered too high or too low.

Junior Hoilett - £2.98 million

Attacking midfielder Hoilett was an audacious free transfer signing by Warnock just days after he was confirmed as Bluebirds boss.

The former QPR winger had departed Loftus Road at the end of last season after failing to agree a new contract.

It had been reported that Hoilett was holding out for a move to a Premier League but as the season was progressing there was no sign of that desired big money move into the top flight for the 26 year old.

Warnock, who managed Hoilett at QPR, persuaded the Canadian international to agree terms with the Bluebirds and sign on a free transfer.

The fact that Hoilett is now valued at close to £3 million shows that either Cardiff got an absolute steal or the winger is one of the most overrated players on the market in the Championship.

Only time will tell.

Joe Ralls - £425k

It is hard to believe that central midfielder Ralls is still only 23 years old having made first team appearances for the Bluebirds on a regular basis, ever since his debut as a fresh-faced 17 year old in a League Cup game against Oxford United on 10th August, 2011.

Ralls has gone on to make 109 appearances for the club and has scored 7 goals during a career that has seen him become one of the main figures of midfield at the club over the past couple of seasons.

His performances last season received wide praise.

So it seems a bit bizarre that a player who has been a persistent starter in a Championship side that was performing adequately in the second tier of English football for the past two seasons, is valued at less than half a million pounds.

If you think it's because his contract is close to running down then you would be wrong.

Ralls is signed to Cardiff until 2019 so his market value is mystifying.

Frederic Gounongbe - £1.28 million

There was a whisper doing the rounds amongst a section of fans at the Cardiff City Stadium one week that if Cardiff tried to sell Benin international striker Gounongbe then they would have to pay a club to take him off their hands.

Therefore, you can imagine the amazement that goes with finding out the 28-year-old front man is worth almost £1.3 million in today's market, having initially signed for the Bluebirds in the summer on a free transfer from Belgian side Westerlo.

Throw into that mix the fact that Gounongbe's lightweight performances that have consisted of lacklustre movement and awful finishing makes it seem almost unbelievable that he has gained value since the summer.

Granted, he did score 22 goals for Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League last season but in the Championship, he has already shown he cannot cut the mustard and that makes his current valuation absolutely mind-boggling.

What do you think Cardiff fans? Are these three players currently holding market values that are just not realistic? Are there other players you think are worth more or less than they actually are? Let us know in the comments section below!
