Burton Albion suffered final day heartbreak last season after bravely battling above their weight for an entire season.

On budgets and attendances, Burton should have been relegated in January, but they united as a team and showed the Championship they almost had what it took to remain in the second tier.

In the end though, they were found lacking.

Oddly, they drop into League One  perhaps with a remit to consolidate, rather than challenge.

Whilst sides such as Rotherham have made a good job of bouncing back, Yeovil serve as a warning that the worse could still be in the post.

They'll need to be League One ready, they drop into a division where once again, they won't be at the top in terms of budget, appeal or fan base.

It's a tough challenge and they can only hope that their spirit, determination and recent Championship status help attract a couple of players and keep performances high.

If they do want to be a force in League One, they might want to have a look at these three players FLW recommends.

Loovens is an experienced defender who might just help push Burton back to the top of League One.

His recent release from Sheffield Wednesday leaves him without a club and maybe he's the man to marshall the Brewers defence against the likes of Accrington and Rochdale.

Could they afford their former player? He was on fire at Accrington last season and he is set to make waves in League One also.

Accrington aren't the richest club in the division, not by a long shot, so perhaps Burton could use some of their transfer kitty to bring back their former hero. His goals would be a big advantage to them.

Grant might be on the transfer list at Peterborough, but he's an experienced central midfielder who, by rights, should be a League One regular.

Burton might have to acknowledge their time in the second tier is over for now and concentrate on consolidating, rather than imploding. Grant would help that process immensely.
