Brentford have had a fine season to date.

Few expected Thomas Frank to transform Brentford from mid-table merchants into a promotion-chasing side, and to do so in such a short space of time.

It was their keen summer recruitment that's enabled Brentford to claim a top-six spot for much of the season, but with football up in the air right now, it's put Brentford and a whole lot of other teams in a bit of turmoil.

Here we take a look at three Brentford players who'll look to return with a vengeance:

David Raya

The Spaniard was one of the summer arrivals and he along with Pontus Jansson, were the ones who were supposed to transform Brentford's defence into a promotion-winning one.

For the best part, they have. Although Jansson has missed a lot of football through injury, he in-front of Raya looked a formidable duo.

But Raya came under the spotlight a bit after New Year, and he goes into this break having kept just one clean sheets in his last nine.

His calamitous mistake against Leeds last month showed that he's not quite at the top of his game yet, but he'll be working hard over the coming weeks, and will be hoping that he's back at his best for what'll be an important finish to the season.

Pontus Jansson

The Swede has been integral to Brentford's season so far. He proved to be one of the league's best with Leeds last season and shocked many when he joined Brentford this time round, but he's proved a keen signing, and a player that Frank will surely be missing right now.

He's not featured since January having picked up a muscle injury, and without him, Brentford just aren't the same team. If the season resumes in April then Jansson should be fully-fit - he'll be looking to make up for lost football when he returns, and to get Brentford back in track.

Said Benrahma

The Algerian has once again proved to be the showman about Griffin Park. His highlights reel for the 2019/20 season is as good as his last, if not better. But he's backed all of his trickery up with a really solid showing.

He's scored goals, created them and has linked up play better than any no.10 in the league, and has proved a crucial member of Brentford's BMW front-line.

This season, Benrahma has been linked with a Premier League move. He's shown his top-flight potential since arriving at the club in 2018, and looks destined for a Premier League this summer - should Brentford not get promoted that is.

When the football resumes, Benrahma will be looking to maintain his form, and show his Premier League suitors that he's worthy of a move.
