It has been a difficult season for Reading in the Sky Bet Championship, with Paul Clemet facing a sizeable task at the Madejski Stadium.

Last season Reading were a penalty shootout away from the Premier League under Jaap Stam, but have failed to have the same impact in the Championship this year, with relegation still a possibility.

That lack of impact has cost Stam his job at the Madejski, with Clement the man now at the helm and looking to guide Reading to safety during the Championship run-in.

Reading should have enough to survive the drop this season, but there is no doubt that Clement faces a huge job in rebuilding a side that have looked a shadow of their former self.

The summer will be big for Reading, which Clement will be well aware of.

With that in mind, we identify THREE decisions that must be made that could define Reading’s 2018/19 campaign…

Kermorgant was Reading’s hero in their promotion push last season, but this year it just hasn’t happened for the striker.

The Frenchman had too much pressure put on him on his return from injury, and Clement needs to be recruiting a new focal point in the summer.

Sentiment can’t play a part in the summer, which could spell trouble for Kermorgant.

Moore hasn’t looked the same player this year at Reading, but going forwards Clement needs to retain his service.

It would take some brilliant recruitment to find a better centre-back and Reading should be rebuffing any bidders.

Stam’s style of play was one of his downfalls at the Madejski, with Reading’s passing style not having the same impact as it did when the Dutchman first arrived.

The Royals find themselves at a crossroads, with Clement tasked with giving his side a new identity ahead of next season.

The decision Clement makes on the style of football he wants from Reading can’t be underestimated.
