Blackburn Rovers have made a relatively strong start to the season in the Championship, with Tony Mowbray’s men currently sat 11th in the league table.
Rovers sent out a real statement of intent to their play-off chasing rivals, as they thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 at Hillsborough on Saturday.
Lewis Holtby scored twice in the game, and Mowbray will be hoping that his summer signing can continue to impress as the season progresses.
Blackburn were dealt a huge blow earlier this season though, with Bradley Dack being ruled out for the remainder of this year’s campaign with a serious-looking knee injury.
This frustrating blow could mean that Tony Mowbray is in the market for January additions to his squad, as they look to finish inside the top-six this term.
We look at THREE Blackburn Rovers transfer scenarios that are worth keeping an eye on as we look towards Deadline Day.
Jon McLaughlin’s rumoured arrival.
There might have been some surprise when Sunderland’s Jon McLaughlin was linked with a move to Ewood Park this month.
Blackburn already have Christian Walton available to them between the posts, but it seems as though Tony Mowbray isn’t satisfied with his options this term.
Jayson Leutwiler is Blackburn’s backup option at the moment, and it would be interesting to see if there was any late transfer movement in regards to this potential deal.
If McLaughlin was to arrive, then you have to imagine that Leutwiler would be heading for the exit door, as his game time would be severely limited.
Ben Brereton linked with January departure.
Brereton has struggled for game time with Blackburn since moving from Nottingham Forest back in January 2019.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Dutch side ADO Den Haag according to the Lancashire Telegraph, although it remains to be seen as to whether they will submit a formal offer for the forward.
With Bradley Dack ruled out for the remainder of the season, it seems hard to believe that Tony Mowbray will be willing to sanction Brereton’s potential exit this month.
That could change if a late bid is made by Alan Pardew’s side though.
Polish winger linked with switch to Rovers.
Blackburn have recently been linked with a move for Polish winger Kamil Jozwiak in this month’s transfer window, but they face stiff competition from Derby County for his signature.
Rovers could certainly benefit from signing a winger this month, with Adam Armstrong recently being deployed in a more central role with Bradley Dack out for the remainder of this year’s campaign.
It remains to be seen as to whether Blackburn have submitted a formal offer for the Lech Poznan winger, but this could be a deal to keep a close eye on as the January transfer window progresses.
