Blackburn Rovers have a lot of work to do between now and the opening day of the Championship season.

The club has appointed a new manager in Jon Dahl Tomasson, who has replaced Tony Mowbray this summer.

Rovers will kick off their season against QPR on July 30, so have a month before then to get the team ready through training and incoming transfer agreements.

Here are three deals Dahl Tomasson should do between now and the opening day of the campaign…

Sell: Ben Brereton Diaz

The Chile international has been a breakout player for Blackburn and is one of the team’s most important individuals.

However, given the likelihood that the club could earn a significant transfer fee for the striker, it is the best course of action to cash-in on that demand this summer.

While ideally he would become the centrepiece of the new-look Rovers side, his contract length really doesn’t sustain that hope.

Earning an eight-figure sum for Brereton Diaz would be enough to reinvest back into the squad to fill out the team and replace the likes of Joe Rothwell and Darragh Lenihan, who have already left this summer.

Buy: Viktor Gyokeres

With Brereton DIaz likely to leave, the Coventry City striker would be a good option to take the mantle up front.

The Swede scored 17 times for the Sky Blues and has impressed during his first full season under Mark Robins.

At 24-years old, he still has plenty to give to a top Championship side and could be an ideal figure to replace the amount of goals the team would lose through Brereton Diaz’s possible departure.

Buy: Anel Ahmedhodzic

The club is in need of a new centre back given the exit of Lenihan following the expiration of his contract.

That he has left as a free agent also means Blackburn likely can’t afford to splash the cash too much to find his replacement.

Blackburn have already been linked with the defender, who has a €4 million release clause in his contract.

The Bosnian has also worked with Dahl Tomasson at Malmo so could be a natural fit to ease the transition to the new style of football under the coach.
