Birmingham City have had somewhat of an indifferent start to the new season.

Garry Monk’s side have managed two draws from their first three league games, with one defeat.

The Blues remain winless and have only scored twice so far in what has been a bumpy start to the Championship campaign.

Blighted by financial issues and placed under a transfer embargo, Birmingham were handed a lighter sentence and sanctioned the signing of five loan players from the EFL.

It has been a tough start to the new season but there will be tougher tests ahead for a Blues side that has been in relegation scraps for the past few years.

There will also be easier times ahead for a side who should have taken all three points against Swansea on Friday night bit failed to score having had 17 attempts at goal.

Every season will have its high and low points and there will be a multitude of decisions that need to be made.

With that said, here are three issues that will be troubling Monk and need to be looked at as a matter of urgency.

Birmingham have only scored two goals all season and could have had treble that against Swansea but failed to convert any of their 17 chances on goal.

Bolton are next up for Garry Monk’s side and the Blues boss will be scratching his head trying to think of his best-attacking line up that would be able to take some of the missed chances.

Having not won this season the fact the team were unable to get on the score-sheet will be an issue.

David Stockdale and Tomasz Kuszczak have both been told they are free to leave the club but as of yet, they are still on the wage bill and not playing.

Lee Camp has since arrived to challenge Connal Trueman to the number one jersey with the two other stoppers in limbo, there's a total of four keepers on the books.

It will be a headache for Monk who will be willing the senior keepers seal a move away and he will be doing all he can to offload them before the loan window shuts next week.

There are less than two weeks until the loan window closes and Garry Monk is still able to bring a couple more players into the club under their relaxed embargo.

A headache for Monk is prioritising potential additions: who should come in, what position needs to be addressed.

It could mean compromising on a signing that would a luxury and instead go for one that is necessary.

It is a dilemma that Monk will not envy on anyone having so much still to do but with so little time.
