Birmingham City have made a sluggish start to their 2018/19 Championship campaign.

Garry Monk's men are one of three sides in the second tier who are still looking for that first illusive win, after drawing four times and losing twice, as the Blues sit in 20th.

The West Midlands side were hit by a financial fair play sting back in July which halted their transfer activity, and at the close of the summer transfer window, only one of Blues' signings were bought for a fee, with their 7 other signings were brought in on loan or on a free contract.

Monk came in at the back end of the season and steered the Blues comfortably away from relegation, however things need to start picking up again soon if they are to improve on their 19th placed finish from last term.

Here, we identify 3 concerns that Garry Monk needs to sort over the well-needed international break for Birmingham City...

It doesn't take a genius to realise that Birmingham definitely need to work on putting the ball in the back of the net; they are currently the second-lowest scorers in the division after QPR.

Lucas Jutkiewicz has the potential to be a sound Championship striker, whereas it remains to be seen if Omar Bogle can replicate his goalscoring form from a couple of years ago from his Grimsby Town days.

There is no doubt that Jota, on his day, can be one of the best playmakers in the division, as seen from his days at Brentford.

Since his arrival from Griffin Park, he hasn't really set the world alight at St. Andrews, and Monk should prioritise getting the best out of the Spaniard in the next two weeks.

Since has the start of the season, twice Birmingham have took the lead, and twice they have failed to see that lead out.

A prime example of this was against Nottingham Forest a couple of weeks back, as Monk's men were leading the Reds by two goals to nil up until the 75th minute, which saw Blues surrender a two goal lead and eventually finish the game leaving the City Ground with a point, despite looking comfortable for a large majority of the game.
