Birmingham City have made an encouraging start to the Championship season under Pep Clotet and are currently 15th in the league table.

The Blues have suffered a bit of a dip in form recently though, and have only won one of their last seven matches in the Championship.

Clotet is likely to want use the January transfer window as an opportunity to improve his squad and there's a chance that he may decided to send a couple of players out on loan as well.

With this in mind, here are three Birmingham players that could benefit from a loan move in January...

David Stockdale

David Stockdale has made just one appearance for Birmingham this season - the 3-0 defeat at Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup in August.

The goalkeeper is yet to feature for the Blues in the Championship this season and is currently behind Lee Camp and Connal Trueman in the pecking order - hasn't even made the bench for the last eight league matches.

He doesn't appear to be in Clotet's plans at the moment, which will probably be very frustrating for him given his experience at this level.

The goalkeeper spent time on loan at three different clubs last season and there's every chance that he could be open to going out on loan in January, to a club where he could experience regular first-team football.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, though - he could also be open to a permanent move.

Odin Bailey

Odin Bailey came through the academy at Birmingham and made his first-team debut for the Blues in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

The 20-year-old has the midfielder has made a total of six appearances for the Blues so far this term - including five in the Championship - although all of them have come from substitutes' bench.

He's a promising player, but it's fair to say that he probably isn't going to get too many opportunities in the first-team this season, given the competition for places in midfield and his lack of experience.

Sending him out on loan would allow him to experience regular first-team football, which is going to be crucial for his development. He's spent time out on loan before and could be open to another loan switch in the New Year.

Steve Seddon is a very promising young player and has made three appearances for Birmingham in the Championship this season, but he hasn't featured for the Blues since August.

The 21-year-old doesn't appear to be in Clotet's first-team plans at the moment and it's difficult to see that changing any time soon, so perhaps a loan move in January would be a sensible option for him.

It would allow him to experience regular first-team football, which is very important for his development and it will only help his chances of breaking into the team at St Andrew's in the future.

He enjoyed successful loan spells at both Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon last summer, so there's every chance that he could be open to going out on loan again in January.
