As the season is drawing nearly to a close, the Bluebirds have had a rather mixed campaign in the Championship this season.

With the club struggling to reinstate their reputable Championship stature at the start of the campaign, the supporters were dreading another miserable year.

The fans started to stay away as they recorded their lowest ever attendance at the Cardiff City Stadium and there a real sense of the soul being sucked out of the club.

However in a sudden turn of events with a good run of form and stability at the South Wales side, things seem to be on the up.

Controversial owner Vincent Tan is beginning to win the fans over after agreeing to pay off half of their Langston debt and Russell Slade is starting to see the best out of his side.

What the fans want most, is to be playing against the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal once again, and they are within touching distance of the play-offs that could secure them back into the top-flight.

Russell Slade winning over the fans

It is never a good feeling when your supporters are not backing you, especially when you are trying your utmost to deliver results for your side.

Slade has endured a tumultuous relationship with the Cardiff supporters since his appointment in October 2014 after being criticised for his tactics and the signings that he has made.

However since their victory over fellow play-off contenders Ipswich Town, the tides have really turned.

Supporters can be immensely fickle and Cardiff fans expect a lot, but that win has really reignited a sense of hope and unity between the relationship of the fans and Slade.

Instead of being slated, the supporters are now chanting Slade to act out their iconic tradition to do the “ayatollah."

When the Welsh side recently lost to Leeds United a few weeks ago, back at the start of the year, the fans would have been furious, but Slade and the side were given a warm ovation.

If Slade guides Cardiff to the play offs in the final 8 games of the season, he will be labelled as a hero at the club and the fans will soon swallow their words.

Vincent Tan halving their enormous debt

After a Transfer Embargo was imposed on the club for a breach of financial fair play, things could not get any worse for Cardiff as they had been having a pretty average season and now unable to sign players to strengthen.

However, it’s been a promising couple of months when it comes to the accountancy at Cardiff City due to a long-standing debt owed to Langston was paid by Vincent Tan.

The Langston news was followed up by a statement from the club website stating that Vincent Tan agreed to halve the club’s £140 million debt by converting £68 million into equity and writing off a further £10 million.

Despite some controversial decisions from the Malaysian, he has helped the club out immensely in the past to get them out of financial trouble and he continues to do so.

When the club secured promotion to the Premier League, he was not shy with his money and spent over £30 million on players.

Despite all his criticism, you wonder where the club would be without the wealthy owner.

Joe Ralls' rapid rise

The young midfielder has been Cardiff’s player of the season this year and has been excellent in all departments so far.

His stats suggest he is one of the leading midfielders in the division, as his passing has been spot-on in its accuracy and he creates spades of chances for those further forward.

Defensively he has also been key, firm in the tackle and reads the opposition's attacks.

It is one thing to recycle possession, to complete a number of safe passes to your team-mates, but his break up of the play has been phenomenal and his stats show that he has made 81 tackles and 65 interceptions – more than anyone else in the side.

He has shown remarkable levels of consistency and is one of the first names of the team sheet for Slade.

The 22-year-old is replicating the form of when Aaron Ramsey was at the club and Ralls certainly has a big future ahead of him.
