As we come to the close of an excellent season for Barnsley, which has seen them attain their best finish since relegation from the Championship, we could yet see them playing in the second tier next term.
They face Millwall on Sunday at Wembley in the League One play-off final, and after a convincing 6-1 aggregate victory over Walsall in the semi-finals, no-one can argue about their place there.
Their formidable strike-force has seen them score 70 goals, something only five teams can better, and they are without defeat since the start of April.
Paul Heckingbottom has done an amazing job since taking over in February, and the club in general have resurrected their season and in some style too; the Tykes found themselves bottom on the last day of November.
Their run of 16 wins in their last 23 regular season games is the stuff of champions, and they will be looking to become the first team since 1998 to win the Football League trophy and gain promotion via the play-offs in the same season following their 3-2 triumph over Oxford in April.
So, in the opinion of FLW’s Ryan Evans, are THREE Barnsley players that are worth their weight in gold…..
