Aston Villa have endured some radical changes since last year’s embarrassing relegation from the Premier League including multiple changes in management and an all-important change in ownership.
Villa spent big in the summer to try and get back to the Premier League spending huge money on the likes of Jonathan Kodjia and Ross McCormack over the course of the transfer window.
Whilst the attack is performing a lot better, the defence was woeful as ever under Roberto Di Matteo and Villa won just once in their opening 12 games before the Italian was sacked.
Experienced manager Steve Bruce was brought in coming off the back of getting Hull promoted last season and has won 2 of his opening 3 games with the 2-1 win at Reading their first away this year.
They look far better at the back under Bruce and they are spoilt for options up front with Jordan Ayew, Rudy Gestede, Jonathan Kodjia and Ross McCormack all options.
Still, their huge expenditure over the summer doesn’t look like reaping instant rewards, indicative of the kind of silly money available even to second-tier teams these days.
With that in mind here are 3 Villa players (using Transfermarkt) whose value may surprise you.
