Aston Villa have grabbed plenty of headlines this summer and not necessarily for the right reasons to say the very least.

The men from Villa Park have had to contend with financial issues after their play-off loss to Fulham but have at least got fresh investment and faces in the boardroom now.

It appears, though, that the summer of change could still be set to continue with the Daily Star reporting that Thierry Henry has agreed to take over from Steve Bruce as manager of the club.

Certainly, that would be some change around with Henry yet to manage a club and Bruce obviously one of the most experienced men around when it comes to the second tier.

The report is there, though, and with that in mind we've been thinking about three players the Frenchman might decide to let go this summer on his arrival...

Gary Gardner hasn't really managed to force his way into the side at Villa Park and it might be best if he moves on this summer.

Thierry Henry will want to put his own stamp on the club despite not having much time left if he joins and getting rid of some players that are perhaps not good enough will be part of that.

Lansbury is a good player but it hasn't worked at Villa and Henry might think it best that the midfielder starts afresh somewhere else.

Lansbury has quality to offer in the Championship but fitness issues have plagued him and Henry might decide that he wants other options.

McCormack might, of course, be one player happy to see the back of Steve Bruce if he goes but, even so, Henry might consider it best that the attacker leaves the club anyway.

The former Leeds man hasn't really lived up to his reputation at Villa Park and he too might benefit from a new start elsewhere.
