Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga is a target for Bristol City in the summer and could make the move to Ashton Gate.

That's according to the Bristol Post who claim that the 26-year-old is one of seven targets for Lee Johnson when the window opens.

And, even though the ex-Nottingham Forest man is Boro's top scorer this season, he hasn't always been a favourite under Tony Pulis and the Teesside outfit may consider cashing in on a player who would command a decent fee.

The lack of goals for Boro this season means that signing a new number nine will be a priority and sanctioning Assombalonga's sale could give them more money in the market, no matter what division they are in.

And, here we look at THREE potential replacements that need to be on Boro's radar...

Charlie Austin

The Southampton striker hasn't established himself as a regular under Ralph Hasenhüttl and a move seems likely for the poacher in the summer.

At 29-years-old, Austin will want to go somewhere where he can play regularly and that should happen at the Riverside.

He would provide the Boro team with a natural finisher that they need.

Matej Vydra

Another Premier League forward who is out of favour is Burnley's Vydra.

The Czech international has proven himself at Championship level but has struggled for opportunities in the top-flight.

Yet, he still has quality and he could give Boro the link-up forward that they desperately require as they often struggle for creativity.

Scott Hogan

Alternatively, Boro may be willing to take a risk on a player who should be slightly cheaper and Hogan fits into that category.

His time at Aston Villa will be a concern as he hasn't lived up to expectations after a big-money move but prior to that he was a quality player at Brentford.

Boro may be the right club to help him rediscover that form and get him firing.
