3 Arsenal players that could realistically join Reading FC this month

The January Transfer Window has finally opened its door for clubs to dip into the market for new players, and Reading should certainly take advantage of the overseen talent that the Premier League has to offer.

It is half way through the season as the Royals sit in 12th place with 33 points. This is an improvement on last season, but they will need to step it up a gear in the second half of the season if they want to push for a play-off place.

The club’s last gasp 1-0 victory over Championship strugglers Bristol City at the weekend will give the Berkshire side confidence going into the New Year. They have been on a terrible run – losing seven out of their last ten games.

The Berkshire side’s problems lie up front after only netting 30 goals this season with their top goal scorer, Nick Blackman scoring 13 goals.

Without Blackman’s eye for goal, Reading would be struggling at the foot of the table and need to add attacking options to their squad.

Arsenal has a squad beaming with talent. The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger often allows fringe or young players to go out on loan to develop their careers by playing first team football for a lower league club.

New Reading boss Brian McDermott has close connections with Arsenal as he was once their chief scout from October 2014 up until returning to Reading, to take over from the sacked Steve Clarke.
