Queens Park Rangers have had some turn around in form this season, and that is in no small part thanks to Angel Rangel.

The former Swansea man signed a five-month deal at the start of the season and has impressed during his time at Loftus Road.

So much so, that according to the Daily Mirror (November 17, page 63) Norwich City and Nottingham Forest are eyeing a January swoop of the 35-year-old.

Rangel has made 13 appearances since his move to London, and his experience in a young Hoops side has been enough to steady the ship and move them two points outside the play-offs after four successive defeats to kick-off their campaign.

Since the Spaniard earned a place in Steve McClaren’s starting XI, QPR have lost just three times and moved from the foot of the table to 10th place.

If Rangel was to leave when his contract expires in the New Year, despite Rangers wanting to secure the right-back for a longer term, here are three replacements QPR must consider if he leaves.

Max Aarons is the first-choice right-back for Norwich City this season, and Daniel Farke is keen for the youngster to continue there.

When he doesn’t hasn’t played, Ben Marshall has been preferred in that position too, meaning Ivo Pinto is now the third choice at Carrow Road.

Not even making the bench at times, he has made three appearances this term having had injury troubles too.

But if Angel Rangel was to leave, then Pinto would be a solid, younger replacement for the former Swansea man if Steve McClaren was to move for the right-back.

Lewie Coyle has been a reliable figure for Fleetwood Town on loan this season, making 20 appearances for Joey Barton’s side, and he is bound to attract interest from higher clubs when his loan deal expires in January.

At 23 years of age, he has much more potential than Angel Rangel, and he will be hungry to prove himself and perhaps show Leeds what they could be missing.

And if Rangel was to leave, this younger option would be a perfect option to have for now and the future.

The Charlton right-back is hitting his prime at 27-years-old and has been an ever-present for the Addicks this term.

He has experience in both the second and third tier and would be a reliable and dependable signing for Steve McClaren’s men.

Should Angel Rangel leave, QPR should consider the Charlton man for a move across London.

Strong in a tackle and blocking the ball, Solly has the tenacity to be able to be a success in a young Hoops side, adding much-needed experience should the veteran Rangel leave.
