Reading are have had a torrid time of it in the Championship this season and manager Paul Clement appears to be under extreme pressure.

The club currently sit in 20th place in the table and only remain above the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

Only four wins have come their way this season as the club continues to leak goals at the back.

It was reported on Tuesday that the Royals were considering appointing Carlos Carvalhal as Clements replacement if they decide to sack the former Swansea boss.

But is the Portuguese coach the right man for the job?

He struggled with Swansea last season and was far from inspiring with Sheffield Wednesday before the end of this reign.

Here are THREE managers we think the club should be looking at instead of Carvalhal...

Mick has to be high on the list of potential replacements.

Despite losing his popularity at the club, McCarthy did a brilliant job with the resources at his disposal with Ipswich Town and could do the same with Reading.

They probably won't want to hang onto him as long, but as a short-term option, there are none better.

It would be ambitious, but why not go for Jokanovic?

He would most likely walk into any job available in the Championship but Reading should definitely enquire.

The Royals' attack has been decent this season and Jokanovic could optimise that and get them out of their predicament.

The Barnsley boss has been thoroughly impressive since arriving in England.

His Tykes side have been playing brilliant attacking football with a solid base and he has done it without making a host of changes.

He should, therefore, be able to come into Reading and have a similar impact.
