Leeds United have been on inspired form over the opening 20 games of the season and, unlike in previous campaigns, are showing no signs of slowing down.

Marcelo Bielsa has done a wonderful job of building a squad that is both incredibly industrious but also technically very gifted.

The result has been some of the most impressive football the Whites have played, almost certainly the most impressive since their relegation from the Premier League 14 years ago.

They currently occupy second place with a four-point cushion between themselves and West Bromwich Albion in third, but it remains incredibly tight throughout the top eight teams.

January, therefore, could be the most important transfer window the Championship has ever seen with a host of clubs looking to steal a march on their rivals.

For Leeds, a goalkeeper appears to be the main priority with the young and still relatively inexperienced Bailey Peacock-Farrell now their only senior option after Jamal Blackman's leg-break.

It looked like their man would be Newcastle United's Freddie Woodman, but with Karl Darlow picking up an injury this move now looks dead.

But they need not panic. Here are three alternatives Leeds should move for...

Davies is a top-quality goalkeeper and is easily of Championship standard.

With his contract running out at the end of the season, Barnsley could be tempted to cash in on their captain if the opportunity arises.

He is someone the Whites should definitely be looking at.

Jakupovic showed with Hull City in the Premier League just how good he can be, but has had very little game time since moving to Leicester.

Now their third choice, the experienced shot-stopper could be tempted to move on loan for the second half of the season.

If experienced is desired then there are not many better options.

Heaton has twice won promotion to the Premier League with Burnley and could be a vital voice in the dressing room as well as a strong presence on the pitch.

It seems like a move will depend on Nick Pope's fitness, but he is somebody Bielsa should be considering.
