QPR are reportedly considering Troyes manager Rui Almeida as a replacement for the recently sacked Steve McClaren.

Former England manager McClaren was sacked on Monday following a run of just one win in 15 games, with the club now 18th in the Championship table, five points clear of the relegation zone.

Almeida, who took over at Troyes in the summer following their relegation from Ligue 1, has guided the French side to fifth in Ligue 2, seven points adrift of an automatic promotion place.

According to Record, a newspaper in Almeida's home country of Portugal, QPR have made contact with the 49 year old and Troyes about a move to Loftus Road.

But would Almeida really be the best option to take over at Rangers? Here, we take a look at 3 alternative options for QPR to consider.

Darren Moore

Moore's sacking from West Brom last month came as a surprise to just about everybody, given the Baggies were fourth in the table and looking well set for a play-off place at the very least.

Were Moore to join QPR, those expectations would be much lower, and as he showed when he stepped in at The Hawthorns at the end of last season, the 44-year-old is more than capable of lifting a team low on both form and morale.

Lee Bowyer

Against the backdrop of disharmony between fans and owners at Charlton, Bowyer has done a remarkable job in making Charlton pretty much safe bets to make the League One play-offs this season.

You feel he would now be keen to get a go at the Championship, though you wonder whether he will want wait until the summer to see if can get his current side there first.

David Wagner

He may have had a nightmare campaign prior to his departure from Huddersfield earlier this season, but there can be no questioning the German's managerial ability.

He worked wonders to get Huddersfield into the Premier League to begin with, and then even more so to keep them up in their first season in the top flight.

QPR a said to looking for a manager to work on a small budget, and few have done that better than Wagner.
